Our 2022 AMPED Intern Program kicked off last week with the high school interns participating in a four day Pro-Start Training Course. The week began with safety orientation taught by Joe Crow and continued with hands on training throughout the week. Instructors Mike Rowland and Joe Montgomery covered topics including hand and power tool safety and use, material identification, conduit pipe bending, wall rough in and much more. Glenda Berard and Shrikunj (Sean) Patel also joined the instructor team to cover blueprint reading and BIM. The fourth day of training was held at our Engineering & Fabrication Division where the students rotated through all the departments to be cross trained on multiple skills of the industry. Training concluded Thursday afternoon with students being presented with a certificate, a hardhat sticker and a bag of tools to signify their graduation from Pro-Start. The AMPED interns will work full-time throughout the summer and continue part-time work when school resumes with the opportunity to pursue their Journeyman’s License through dual enrollment at Wiregrass Technical College.
